Have a Monstrous Birthday - MFT Color Challenge #54

September 22, 2016

It's been a while since I played along with a MFT color challenge last time. I always think that I should participate in at least one color challenge every month. But, well... I'm not so good at color challenges. :(

This weeks color palette looked easy to tackle, since these are traditional colors for Halloween. I started with an idea to make a Halloween themed card using the Monster Love stamp set, then changed my mind and came up with this birthday card.

I die cut a Smooth White panel using the Blueprints 21 Die-namics and added the stitching lines with the Stitched Strip Die-namics.  After I stamped the sentiment in Black Licorice, I matted the panel with a Boysenberry panel and adhered to a Gumdrop Green card base.

I stamped the monster with Gumdrop Green Premium Dye ink and cut it out with the matching die.  It was adhered to the Smooth White panel along with a half circle panel, which I cut from Boysenberry CS using the Blueprints 21 Die-namics.

The balloons were cut from polka dot patterned papers using the Birthday Balloons Die-namics. I drew the strings with a black gel pen and added a bow. The tiny stars were cut out with a die from the Stitched Strip Die-namics.

MFT September Card Kit Release

September 21, 2016

The new Snowflake Sparkle Card Kit is available for purchase in the MFT store now!

I'm sharing a shaker card tonight. I used the Simply Snowflakes stamp set and a little hedgehog from the Happy Hedgehogs stamp set to create a winter scene.

After I stamped and white embossed the snowflakes on a Smooth White panel, I blended some Periwinkle and Summer Splash Premium Dye inks over it. I die cut a snowy hill using the Stitched Snow Drifts Die-namics and lightly penciled a hill line on the inked panel. I adhered the panel to the card base and layered three Single Stitch Line Rectangle Frames. I applied some foam tape along with the penciled line so that the shaker elements won't fall down to under the hill, put some Minnie Perls Prills, then added a sheet of acetate.

I gold embossed a sentiment from the Snowfall of Blessings stamp set on the die cut hill and adhered it to the panel of acetate along with a hedgehog. Another frame was added to finish off the card.

I love that Minnie Pearl Prills look like real falling snow!

MFT September Card Kit Countdown Day 2

September 20, 2016

It's Day 2 of the MFT September Card Kit Countdown. The new card kit, Snowflake Sparkle will be available for purchase TONIGHT at 10:00 pm EDT.

Today we're featuring "Out of the Box" looks – cards that combine the products included in the kit with previously released MFT products.

(NOTE : The products written in boldface are included in the kit.)
For today I decided to create Christmas ornaments with combining the Simply Snowflakes stamp set and the Pierced Circle STAX Die-namics. I die cut two circles from Smooth White CS in different sizes and white embossed the snowflakes. Then I inked the larger one with Pink Lemonade, Cotton Candy, Ripe Raspberry Premium Dye inks, and the smaller one with Summer Splash and Tropical Teal. To create the ornament tops, I die cut two hole reinforcers from Silver Sparkle CS using a die from the Tag Builder Blueprints 4 Die-namics, added some hemp cord, and tied bows.

I die cut my background panel with a pierced rectangle die from the Blueprints 21 Die-namics and white embossed the Balloon Strings Background on the lower half of it. Then I daubed some In the Buff Premium Dye ink over it. I heat embossed the sentiment with Liquid Platinum embossing powder, mounted my ornaments with foam tape, and added several sequins. I added a little bit of Silver Moondust Glitter Drops to the center of each snowflake.

Head on over to the MFT blog to see the full reveal of the kit and for more inspiration from the DT members participating today's countdown.

Thank you for stopping by. I'll be back at 10:00 pm EDT tonight to celebrate the new card kit release. ;)
